My car is gone.

Now that I get to stay home with my dear daughter, Jaysen and I were looking at ways to cut expences. We decided to become a one car family.

We sold my car on Thursday night. Jaysen will take our car to work, so now we only have to pay insurance on one vehicle. Plus now that I don't have transportation, I won't be tempted ti go shopping when Jayna and I are bored!!!! (That should save on spending! hehehe)

I have never been with out a car, so this will be interesting!

Hi Janders

Two years ago this Oct. I donated my car to the high school my son attended.
My dog had been sick and I chose to have him get medical care and dropped the car insurance.
Then when I could afford to get "re-insured" found out they wanted 3 times the amount I had been
paying cause it sat uninsured for 3 monthsj.....that's when I got rid of it.

Not only will you save on insurance, you'll save on the cost of GAS, oil, tires, upkeep, repairs
and in general have fewer headaches.

The hard part is not being able to just pop into your car and head on out to the local store,
friend's houses, and a jaunt to a park. So if you have access to bus service, make use of it
quickly so you become comfortable with it.

I miss my car still as it meant freedom to me, ability to get myself to appts., and I
LOVE driving, so it's a big heartache......if this is you, do what you can to adjust so you
don't hurt too much.

Unfortunatly where I live there is NO public transportation.(which I find strange) I am very lucky that my family lives less then a mile away and they have 4 cars and 4 drivers. So if I REALLY need to get somewhere, I can catcha a ride.

Janders: We're a one car family. Some days it's frustrating, but it has saved us so much money.

When I really need the car (rarely), I take Adrian to work and keep it with me. If something can wait until he's off work, it does. I walk the kids to and from school, so that's not a problem.

Considering that you have family nearby who is willing to give you a ride if you need it, I don't think it will be too difficult for you guys to just have one car.

I see this as a very beautiful sacrifice for your daughter...giving up personal convenience so that you can devote your time to her.
