A trip to Beaver bay.

My cousin Casey and I went to a scrapbooking retreat from Sat- Monday, this past weekend. It was quite the ad\venture.

It was in Beaver Bay MN which is a *gasp* five hour drive. It also has only 175 people living in the town. It was quite small.

On the drive up, we got to experience HORRIBLE weather, Downpour where we could not see the road, and then Fog where you couldn't see the road again. YUCK!

We actually got some scrapbooking done... Or as Casey says "Hard core scrapbooking".

We also went to a hick bar in Findland MN. It was in the middle of a bunch of trailers. From this the phrase "Party at the double-Wide" was coined. The locals did not seem to care for us city girls to much, and we got kicked out before everyone else. Casey was thinking of busting a beer bottle over the jukebox and then out running the local PD. But instead we left.

Highlights of our trip: Seeing a porcipine! Falling asleep on the deck and Casey getting a sunburned stripe across her tummy. Watching the longboard club attempt to surf in Lake Superior. Seeing various oversized animal statues in various small towns.

Quotes of the trip: "Party at the double wide". "You dont need to see the cock, you just need to know it's there". (In reference to the giant chicken sculpture in Two Harbors, that was not visible due to fog.)

I love driving up the North Shore.  That's the first place that I think of when I think about going somewhere.

The most amazing thing is how the terrain changes between Grand Portage and Thunder Bay.  In the Grand Portage area you can enjoy the peaks and valleys, forests and lakes; then once you cross into Canada, you find yourself in a place that resembles the Badlands.

I love Northern Minnesota.  That has to be my favorite place.

Too bad that there isn't enough of an immigrant population base to support my career choice.

Jamie~ Give it time, the population has to spread, eventually you may be able to move to the beauty of the north.

Dude I have no idea what songs to put on it. I think I need to make another trip up there and go to the GOOD bar to remember what we always play when we're there... or maybe I will just call Lyz for input? Either way, ITS GOING TO RULE.
