Apparently not..

I had someone point out to me that I often giggle after I talk ( or during)... And because of that no one takes me seriously...

This is depressing to me, as I realize I do this A LOT. I think it is more being uncomfotable, and using laughter as a huge defense mechanism. Knowing that I do this often, I wonder how many times I have lowered peoples veiw of me, an therefore not taken seriously.

I know I shouldn't be so giggly, because it plays into the whole dumb blonde thing. I never think about it when i do it, or I didn't until this person pointed it out. I think I giggle, because I want people to like me... "oh her, she's always so happy"..... finding now that poeple dont even take me seriously.

I suck.

You're not giggly and ditzy, you're just bubbly. Nothing wrong with that.

wah hit the shark square on the nose....the giggling comes from a lack of self confidence...ironically, i had a g/f back in my college age years that had the same problem. my parents would comment on what a distasteful trait that was to them, and after a while, it got to me too. just like wah's girl, my gal eventually found her legs and confidence and the tick dissappeared...for her it took a public speaking course and some success in life that i am sure didn't hurt.

it is a tick worth putting some effort in losing as in any professional situation it simply makes you look bad....whenever i run across with someone who has that tick, i must admit, it drops my opinion of them a little....it's not the end of the world, but it's easier to lose the tick than compensate for it through other means in my opinion...when i see it i see someone who lacks confidence at the very least...then i start to wonder what else is lacking....i know others that i have worked with over the years who see it (falsely in my mind, but it's their reality and a really good argument won't change the reality) as a sign of dishonesty.

also,,,you don't suck,,,everyone has issues that they work on thru life...and that one is minor and easily corrected compared to some other people's challenges.

Dena- You and I are lighthearted, fun and easygoing. That is why we are fun to be around. I notice it seem to be female that dislike this trait more.... Males seem to have no problem with you or I's personality traits. We rock. : )
Love you! Come home...... I miss you!

Laughing is good, it keeps people off balance when you talk. Very advantageous.

Do you know if females dislike the trait more than males even when males do it?

I am just saying, girls seem to dislike it in other girls, I don't know any males that giggle....
