I read the above article this morning in SHOCK. I have celiac disease that requires I stick to a strict gluten free diet. McDonalds has been representing their fries as gluten free for years.
I probably eat their fries 3 times a week. I am so upset as I am finding today they contain gluten! This after double checking several times a year that the fries were gluten free.
I have been having trouble keeping on weight. When I eat gluten it causes damage to my samll intestine, which results in malabsorbtion, and weight loss. I have been dropping a pound here and there, and am now down to 95lbs. For someone who is 5'8" that is not a good thing.
I am so angry to find that McDonalds has been secrectly posioning me. No wonder I can't gain weight. There poision gluten containing fries have been eating away at me. To hide such a dangerous ingredient is irresponsible and wrong.

This isn't you, is it? If not, you may want to join the class action suit.
Would you like a lawsuit with those fries?

At least three people in the U.S. have filed lawsuits against McDonald's because the fast food giant's french fries contain milk and wheat ingredients.
The lawyer for an Illinois woman with celiac disease says his client's condition is set off by eating gluten, a protein found in wheat.
Debra Moffat of Lombard, Ill., is seeking unspecified damages, claiming she suffering heightened gastrointestinal symptoms after eating the fries.
Nadia Sugish of Los Angeles is also suing. She says she's a vegan and would not have eaten the fries if she had known they contained dairy products.
Mark and Theresa Chimiak of Jupiter, Fla., allege in their suit that their five-year-old daughter, Annalise, became seriously ill from eating the fries because she has an intolerance to gluten.
The fast-food giant, which previously said its fries were free of gluten and milk or wheat allergens, added a "contains wheat and milk ingredients" postscript to its website's fries listing this month.

As far as pp telling me to make all my food at home, and that I am to blame for eating there ect, ect.
Well, I'm not sure if by pp you meant me but in any case there is more to life than just eating outside for what ever reason. But hey, it was only an idea, if you wanna go out and continue to take chances that can eventually kill you (hope it never does), then by all means eat your heart out. I just don't take to heart people who would complaim about McDonalds being liers or bad for you but you eat there anyways. Kinda like the vegeterian lady. It's sad when a person who does not eat meat goes to a place where 75% of thier sales is based on meat.

I NEVER said McDonalds was a healthy place to eat (im not that stupid), but it is the LAW to disclose allergy information.
I never said you were stupid, but that never stopped people from eating at McDonalds either. Look I eat at fast foods all the time, I know how bad they can be for my health, but I go anyways. I never bothered to check what they put in their food because I'm bound to eat it in most places I go to anyways. If anything happens to me well the restaurant will most likely get what they deserve but I am also responsible for eating there in the first place knowing the risks.
I am asking them to follow the law.
I think it unfair to tell me eat at home all the time.
I agree 100%. It is wrong.
Why do we eat out? COnvience, socialazation and entertainment are a few reasons. Why should I not get to enjoy that like everyone else. I already have to live wiht a chronic illness, I guess I should not be allowed to eat where you do.
You shouldn't be talking like that, just be thankful you can go out at all, or eat at many of these places. There are people out there who are stuck at home for ever, who can only dream what a Whopper taste like, who have probably been eating the same food for years and will eat them till they die. But you gotta understand when you go to a fast food you run the chance of getting screwed by them. What does McDonald care, they got enough money to throw around (not that they would want to, but can if they have to). While small restaurants have to be more careful in order to survive. Get my point?
Like Gideon pointed out. I am by no means asking restraunts to make food gluten free, I am asking them to disclose ingredients so that I may enjoy the limited food choices I have.
And it is your right and the law. But you shouldn't be comaplaining when you eat in a place that is already known for lying and for being bad for you in the first place. That's like getting mad for getting burned when you put your hand in the fire.
