We had a horrible experience this morning.

As I was cutting baby Jayna's little fingernails, she wiggled and mama cut her finger!

There was a little blood and a lot of tears. (Although I was crying longer then her.)

I can't believe I accidently hurt my precious girl. I am the worst mom ever.

Been there, done that.

Well, my wife did. My oldest flinched and she cut too deep.

All was well. Just forgive yourself and keep it in mind for the next time.

No you are not!  That you feel so bad indicates you are one of the best moms ever!

It was an accident.  I know it hurts, but dont beat yourself up over it.  She will be doing a lot worse when she gets older and goes out to play, and you will be there to kiss her bobos and hug her when she needs it.

One Christmas I was sitting on the couch and my oldest was playing in the living room floor in front of me. I called him over to talk to him...I had acrylic nails at the time. Not sure exactly how it happened, but somehow I managed to jab him right in the cheek with my skeery nails. Weird freak accident.

Poor kid has a little moon-shaped scar.

You're not the worst mom ever. Not even close, hehe.

I once caught my little one's baby-belly-fat in the zipper of a sleeper...Holy buckets did I cry! That was 10 years ago and I still zip things up with my finger inside the zipper betweeen the skin and the teeth.

And I still cringe and feel bad about it.

I work in a jail. I could tell you stories, real stories of what people do to their children.

No, you don't sound like a bad mom to me at all.

I work for a Mommy and Me coorperation and I see little accidents like this every day. For example, in a class today we were working on bilateral coordination crawling exercises. This mother was right there spotting her kid, but he took a little tumble off of a slide. She ended up crying more than the baby did. I think everything is going to be fine

I accidently slammed Elana's fingers in the door jam of our big metal door.

They didn't break thank God. They were quite purple for a couple hours I kept crying for 2 hours after she'd forgotten about it. (this was more then 6months ago now)

I accidentally pinched maddy's finger in ther car seat buckle. I was at the Dr's office for her checkup and and started bawling because I couldn't get it open again. I felt HORRIBLE. Turns out it was only pinched under the edge, not inside. no permanent damage, but I'm still extra careful of fingers now.
You are fine.

As hard as this is to believe, janders...

...give it about three years and you'll watch your child take a header off the porch, note the absence of blood, and return to your crosswords with nary a second thought.

An exaggeration, of course, but children are very resilient, and you'll quickly discover what should and shouldn't alarm you.

But I agree, the fact that you feel so badly about it indicates that you are, indeed, an EXCELLENT mommy!
